Best practices for maintaining your slush machine for the summer

Taking care of your slush machine might sound overwhelming, complicated, and time-consuming—but it doesn’t have to be!

A well-maintained machine is a healthy machine, meaning fewer breakdowns, fewer repairs, and ultimately, less downtime. And less downtime? That means more sales and happier customers.

As the temperatures rise and the days get longer, there’s one thing customers will be craving—ice-cold, refreshing slushies! To keep up with the summer rush, it’s essential to make sure your slush machine is in top shape. A well-maintained machine ensures smooth operation, perfect icy texture, and maximum profits during the busiest season of the year.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through the key steps to prepare your slush machine for summer. Whether you’re running a convenience store, cinema, or theme park, a little prep now will keep the slush flowing all season long!

Why it’s important to maintain your frozen drinks machine:

A well-maintained slush machine is the key to delivering top-quality frozen drinks, keeping your customers happy, and maximising your profits. Here’s why regular maintenance matters:

  • Better Quality Product – Clean and well-maintained machines ensure smooth, refreshing slushies with the perfect texture.

  • Hygiene – Preventing syrup buildup, bacteria, and mold ensures your customers get a safe and enjoyable product.

  • Less Downtime, More Sales – A properly maintained machine reduces the chances of breakdowns, meaning fewer disruptions and higher sales during peak times.

You Fix VS We Fix: Understanding the difference

Frozen Brothers - The home of the biggest frozen drinks brands has launched “You Fix We Fix”, explaining the responsibilities of Frozen Brother's and those of its customers.

You Fix responsibilities:

These are tasks you or your staff are responsible for fixing:

  • No access to site/equipment - You or your staff must be present when the technician arrives, he must also have access to the machine

  • Power Unit under freezing – High ambient temperature Under freezing

  • No fault found by technician

  • Location and access details of the faulty equipment not provided

  • Frozen Tank - Barrel needs to be switched off when technician is coming

Because these are the customer’s responsibilities, if a service order is placed on Frozen Store for any of these, you will be charged £95 + VAT, plus £25 if a technician has to resolve the issue on-site.

Frozen Brothers offers a comprehensive FAQ, in-depth manuals for both Frozen Carbonated Beverage (FCB) and Frozen Uncarbonated Beverage (FUB) machines, and a dedicated YouTube channel to support you in managing these machines with confidence.

We Fix responsibilities

These are tasks that require a Frozen Brothers technician, like a leak.

If you see any of the below signs on your machine, you should book a service order on Frozen Store within 1 business day, and a technician should come within three days (depending on availabilities). However, summer is usually the busiest time of the year, so proactive maintenance is crucial. Before placing a We Fix order, ensure the issue is not a You Fix responsibility.

How to Avoid We Fix Maintenance?

Preventative maintenance of You Fix responsibilities helps reduce the need for repairs. Regular cleaning and maintenance ensure your machine operates smoothly, minimising disruptions during peak sales periods.
